I started my work with Kate after seeking a functional trainer to recover from a series of injuries: facet strains and a bruised tailbone. I have a history of back injuries including multiple surgeries and I consider functional training to be a necessity in ensuring long-term quality of life. After my first session with her, it was clear to me that Kate's knowledge, compassion, personality, and training style would be a great match for my needs. As an endurance athlete with a history of coaching, myself, I needed someone whose expertise could augment my own, who could recognize my need to push the limits of my workout while paying close attention to form, and who would provide the right amount of motivation and accountability to keep up with a training schedule. I found this in Kate. She is an incredible partner for reaching one's personal fitness goals - my next trainer has some big shoes to fill!

I began working with Katelyn after signing up to do an REI active tour of the Galapagos and Machu Picchu. REI suggested three months of training to prepare. Fearful I would not/could not get ready (I was 67 and out of shape), I worked with Katelyn twice a week for four months prior to my vacation. I was able to do the trip, which was, by then, well within my capabilities thanks to Katelyn's expertise, guidance and support.  I had never worked with a personal trainer before but now understand the benefits which offset the costs, especially as I get older.

A little background, I did Jazzercise for ten years and loved it. However,  I would get injured from time to time, requiring PT to recover. When I began working with Katelyn, I realized that my smallest mistake in body position when doing an exercise or movement repeatedly, could cause injury. Additionally, I had a few life long bad habits that prevented me from improving my flexibility and core strength of which I was completely unaware. 

I was amazed at the progress I made working with Katelyn. I always looked forward to our sessions. I am now a real believer in the benefits of working with someone with Katelyn's skills set. If she were not moving, I would stay with her for years. She is a true professional.

My time training with Kate was extremely motivating and educational. She's passionate about fitness and her enthusiasm is contagious. Kate takes the time get to know her clients, figures out what their goals are, and creates detailed and personal workouts that are challenging, but achievable. Even on days when working out seemed impossible, I always left a session with Kate feeling accomplished and energized. She is invested in her clients' fitness goals and wants them to enjoy their time working out. I learned so much about fitness from Kate and am able to implement it in my life outside of the gym. Kate creates a comfortable and supportive environment, encouraging her clients to work hard and push themselves. The results aren't just physical changes, but a better understanding of one's body, the drive to keep going, and the confidence that comes from consistent progress. Plus, it's just really fun to pick up heavy weights and put them down! Katelyn is a very talented coach and trainer. She has a breadth of fitness knowledge. The great thing about Katelyn as a fitness professional is that she truly loves and lives fitness. Training is not just her job but also her hobby and sport. She competes in powerlifting and posts regular updates about her own training as well as great informative articles about different health and fitness topics. She also is always learning more and applies her knowledge in her coaching.

Katelyn is extremely accommodating about different fitness levels. She always has an alternative to make an exercise easier or more challenging. Each week in class with her was different and fun - for me I crave variety in my workouts to keep it interesting (and distract from the pain!) so its awesome that she switches it up all the time. 

Above all, she is fun to work with! We have become friends over my time taking her TRX classes and she has a great sense of humor and great taste in music! She is super knowledgeable without being intimidating, which is really important to me in a personal trainer. As an overweight but generally fit person, I look for a trainer who is not going to talk down to me or underestimate me. Katelyn treats everyone, young or old or thin or overweight, with respect and encouragement. No matter what you are looking to achieve, I believe that Katelyn is an excellent choice for a coach and personal trainer.

Before finding Kate, I struggled with motivation and proper exercise form while enrolled with a general gym membership at a big name facility.  I also had complications from a collapsed vertebra from years of marathon running which had greatly reduced my physical activity.

While waiting for surgical options, my doctor told me he wanted me to lose some weight and strengthen my core.  Kate crafted an ever-changing weekly plan to help with my core stability and my overall strength, while navigating my injuries and not exacerbating them in any way. 

Prior to working with Kate, I was convinced I could only lose weight from running, which I could no longer do.  Within weeks, I started feeling better and had more energy.  Within months, I felt stronger and had lost weight.  Kate kept me motivated (her energy and enthusiasm is contagious) and changed up the workouts to keep my body guessing. 

My energy, strength, even posture, have all improved thanks to Kate.  I recommend her without reservation.

I had the pleasure of working with Katelyn for just under a year. Katelyn is friendly, professional, funny, and genuinely cares about the well being of her clients. She is adept at listening to both verbal and non-verbal cues and uses them to improve her sessions. When she noticed that I struggled to keep my back neutral in a traditional dead lift stance, she taught me the sumo stance instead. When I mentioned that I started playing indoor soccer, she suggested adding balance and transverse exercises to our sessions to prevent injuries. It is obvious that Katelyn takes great pride in the success of her clients and it makes working with her an absolute pleasure. 

Though I am saddened that I can no longer train with Katelyn as she moves out of the area, I can rest easy knowing that she will continue to make a positive difference in many people’s lives.

Kate is the reason why I can do “real” pushups. She is professional and actively engaged in developing individualized workout plans in response to lifestyle changes, rehabilitation, or the need for a new challenge. Kate always makes sure that I perform exercises properly in order to avoid injury and get the most out of every movement. I will miss Kate’s sassy sense of humor, granola bar recommendations, and her amazing powerlifting ability. I have taken classes and had a few sessions with Katelyn over the last year and a half. 

She is friendly, informative, helpful, and, most importantly, fun! She specializes her training based on clients' goals and offers specific feedback in how to improve form or "make bigger gains." I loved taking her TRX classes as it was the perfect mix of strength training and heart-pumping intervals. I was nervous to try TRX (mainly of getting tangled up in the ropes) and she couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful while I was getting started.

On a few occasions I was scared of trying something new in fear of not being able to do it. Katelyn would talk me through it and make modifications in my form and thinking until I was ready to give it a go. Katelyn is a trainer I trust completely with my health and well-being. She is encouraging without being scary and she will push you to do things she knows you are capable of.

I recently experienced a knee injury while running, and she was willing to walk me through the printed physical therapy exercises I got from my doctor, making sure I understood how to do them correctly. She also made suggestions of other similar exercises I could try when I was ready to progress.

In short - Katelyn is wonderful and I highly recommend anyone, with goals of all kinds, to go see her!

I have spondylosis.  Not a very serious back condition per se, but something that has kept me away from high impact exercise for many years.  Pilates, yoga, the occasional barre class... all good.  But I couldn't get past that.  I tried cross-fit, and they were just too intense for me.  I tried spinning, but that was just boring.  I even tried a rowing machine at home, but that was just a big waste of money without an instructor to tell me how to do it right.  Truth is, I avoided anything that had to do with running or lifting or working outside of my comfort zone.  Until I met Katelyn.  Her classes allowed me to explore my own limits, safely and comfortably.  She was always willing to work with me to find alternatives, and never made me feel bad about using weight that was comfortable.  She was always watching to make sure my form was correct - something no other class instructor had ever done for me before.  With her guidance, I was able to use kettle bells and dumb bells and actually complete a push-up that I felt proud of.  I could even jog around the studio, without being out of breathe or hurting.  And above all else, her chipper demeanor and friendly attitude made her classes and the gym somewhere that I wanted to be, rather than somewhere I wanted to avoid.  Anyone would be lucky to have Katelyn as an instructor or personal trainer.

It was a great pleasure having Katelyn as my trainer.  She truly is a compassionate and talented professional, who should continue to excel in her field.  When I first started working with Katelyn, I was nervous that I might re-injure my left knee, which has osteo arthritis.  She was always very sensitive to my concerns and helped me to build up the muscles in my leg as well as dealing with strengthening my core, correcting my posture, and working on my balance.  

As you can see from her glowing testimonials, Katelyn is able to work with a wide range of clients of different ages and physical needs.  I am almost 70, and I felt that Katelyn took that great care in creating my program so that it was challenging but not excessively so.  She varied our workouts so that they were never boring, and she was so encouraging.  She’s also a delightful person with a wonderful sense of humor. I will miss working with Katelyn as she is moving back to her hometown, but I know that she will have a marvelous career ahead of her wherever she goes.

Staring 40 in the face, I knew I needed to do something to kick my metabolism into gear and keep my weight under control. I trained with Katelyn twice a week to improve my fitness, maintain my weight, improve flexibility and strength. I saw significant improvement in each of those areas.  Katelyn does an excellent job coaching and providing feedback on the proper form for each exercise. She regularly drew up new workout circuits and made sure each session was equal parts challenging and fresh. All of my life, my biggest struggle has been losing weight and feeling comfortable in my own body. After countless failed attempts of working out and dieting I decided I was going to try utilizing a personal trainer. I was very nervous to start personal training as I didn’t know if it would work for me until I met Katelyn Garcia. 

Katelyn’s positive and inspirational attitude gave me the hope that this is going to work. I started personal training in March of 2015 with Katelyn, and I will forever be grateful to her. Katelyn focused on form, building strength and improvement. Personally, I can improve by someone explaining to me what I am doing, why I am doing it, and why it needs to be done that way. For every question I had, Katelyn was always able to answer. Her knowledge and passion for personal training and nutrition was contagious, and soon I finally started losing the weight and meeting my nutritional goals. 

Another area that can sometimes go overlooked is professionalism. Before I began personal training, I was nervous that I would be judged, or the gym would be dirty, or the trainers wouldn’t be understanding to my hectic schedule. All of these “worries” were thrown out the window. Katelyn was extremely professional and made sure I felt comfortable at every single session. She always made sure the gym, bathroom area, and the equipment were extremely clean and sanitized. Katelyn made sure to remind me 48 hours in advance before each personal training session. She was never once late, never cancelled on me, and was always understanding if I needed to reschedule. 

I will always be indebted to Katelyn Garcia for pushing me and believing in me to be a better version of myself (and to believe in the power of the kettlebell). She is a phenomenal, educated and inspiring personal trainer and woman.  ANYONE would be lucky to work with Katelyn Garcia!

Vitality [Personal Fitness] is a gorgeous space - bright, expansive, well equipped and clean with professional, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. 
The classes are easy to sign up for and parking is ample.
Katelyn's Vital TRX Cross and Vital Cross classes are no joke...she does an awesome warm-up before the class begins, plays great music, provides inspiring energy throughout with great instruction on proper form (giving additional options for more of a challenge) and encouragement to help you finish strong!
